How can I join a cohort?
New cohorts open every 6 months. Cohort Bet (our second cohort), begins on Sunday, January 17th. You can sign-up here.
How committed do I have to be to join?
A commitment of 6 months is required to join a new cohort. We meet once a month on Sundays for 2 hours, and each module will require about 1-2 hrs. of monthly homework which consists of light article reading assignments, podcasts, documentaries or YouTube videos. With each module, action items will be presented to give participants an opportunity to really affect change in their community.
What if I can’t make it to one of the meetings?
If you cannot make it to a meeting due to a conflict, please contact your facilitator ahead of time to let them know.
Will what I share in these groups be confidential?
Yes, the information shared in the personal conversations of small groups and larger cohorts are completely confidential.
What is the goal of this group?
The goal of these groups is to affect culture change in our lives, families and communities through education and discussion of topics related to systemic racism.
Will I make new friends?
Hopefully we will establish strong connections to our groups. This is a great way to meet new people from CBI in a deeper way.
What about COVID?
During the pandemic we will meet over zoom, and in the future hopefully in person.
Do you have to participate in the action part or just the discussion?
You are not required to do any work that you do not feel comfortable doing, or do not have time for.
What if I don't agree with a particular reading or shared opinion?
In these circles, we respect everyone's opinions, even if they don't align with the thoughts expressed by other members or facilitators. We are a multi-generational, diverse group of people with different life experiences, and expect that some conversations may be uncomfortable or challenging. At the beginning of each new cohort, a "brit" (covenant) will be discussed with the participants, so that we can listen to each participant openly.
